Amber’s first Ice Cube

Amber is 14 to 15 weeks old now, that is 3 to 4 months old.  Unfortunately we did not measure her when we got her, but it looks as though she has about doubled in size.

4/14/2010 - One day Collin decided to give her an ice cube… well did she have fun with that, slipping out of her mouth and popping out from under her paw.  Collin took some very jerky/choppy video of the event.  When I figure out how to share it on here, I will do so.

4/22/2010 - Here Amber found a toy bucket and had a lot of fun playing with it.  She clearly did not make it easy for us to capture it on film… rather digital picture.  Here it is easier to see how much bigger she has gotten.

Amber – Almost settled in

This will be Amber’s 4th night.  Last night was better then the 2nd night of wining and yelping for 6 hours or so.  Last night she woke up twice, let her out side and then back in the crate.  She didn’t want to, but it only took about 30 minutes each of crying.

She is a bit more playful, though she still sleeps a lot.  Cousins Colten and Kala came over to see Amber today.  Here are a few photos of her playing.

Amber – Night and Day

DSC_1731Amber was a bit different today.   Spending a full day at our house.  Only one mistake today because I didn’t get her out of the house in time.  She was a bit more lively.  While Kim did dishes in the kitchen, Amber just sat on the floor and watched.  Romped and played in the family room with a big thick rope to chew on.  Still a bit sedated though and slept a lot.  She likes to curl

Amber took it easy on us last night.  She didn’t make a sound after putting her in her cage.  She didn’t make a sound all night or when I came down in the morning to let her out.  Well tonight it a different story.  After letting her out for potty the last time for the night and putting her in her crate, she proceeded to yelp, cry, wine, and otherwise fuss for… oh… half an hour now.

We did what we probably shouldn’t have… went down and tried to calm her town, let her out to potty again, only ran around.  Sat with her till she calmed down again, and put her in her crate for the night.  She still doesn't like it, wonder how long this will last.  I will be up for a while catching up with work… maybe I will update the post.

Amber, our new family member.

The papers have been signed, the money has been exchanged, delivery has been made and the Adoption is final.

Introducing Amber.  Amber is a 10 week old Labradoodle (Labrador and poodle mix).  I never thought I/we would get a dog.  Personally I never liked the mess that comes along with dogs… the shedding, chewed up stuff, the spotty yard and always having to let the dog out and pick up after it… to name a few.  Oh… and I am allergic to dog and cat dander.

Amber is different.  Being a Labrador mixed with a poodle, she has the hypoallergenic hair of the poodle, with out being just a poodle.  We have read may good things about this mix breed and decided to get one.  Ok, enough is enough… lets get on with some pictures.
